EQUINE PREP
OVERVIEW
Purpose
Equine Prep, LLC's purpose is to generate profits from the purchase and resale (Pinhooking) of
Thoroughbreds. Equine Prep provides professional selection, development
and sales of Thoroughbred racehorses and breeding prospects to the
high-end racehorse buyer.
Selection
is the first and most important phase of any Thoroughbred racing or pinhooking
prospect. The process begins with a skilled evaluation of a horse's physical
profile, pedigree and movement. This process may be considered similar to a pro draft
for human athletes.
Development,
the second phase, varies depending upon the type of
purchase. Weanlings are purchased toward the end of their first year of life
and sold the following summer/fall as yearlings. Yearlings are purchased
during their second year and then are sold the following winter/spring as
two-year-olds. Horses currently racing are selected on projection of future
development and current conditions. Broodmares are selected based upon stallion matings and foal production.
Sales
conclude the Pinhooking process. Equine Prep, LLC sells prospects at public
auction or privately through contacts in the Thoroughbred Industry. By participating in both private
sales and
public auctions, the company stays current with market trends and can move accordingly.
