Rave Reviews

"I lost money for 38 straight years as a racehorse owner. I know that I don't know enough about the business.  That's why I hired Equine Prep...to keep me in the loop and make decisions in my best interest. For the last six years my relationship with Equine Prep has provided profitability and success at the very highest levels of the game. I currently have 3 Graded stakes winners and 2 other stake horses out of my racing stable of 11.

Two Breeders' Cup Winners

Equine Prep, LLC’s team selected and purchased two Breeders’ Cup Winners prior to the start of their racing careers, a feat that few bloodstock agencies have accomplished.

Winner's Circle with Adoration

Adoration (above) won the 2003 $2,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Distaff and then added several more Graded Stakes Races to her list of achievements.  She won over $1.9 million and her worth is estimated at over $2,500,000. She was trained by prominent California trainer, Dave Hofmans, an Equine Prep, LLC director. After a minor injury, Adoration retired as a broodmare in 2004.

Alphabet Soup, Breeders' Cup Classic Winner

Alphabet Soup (above) won the 1996 $4,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Classic, defeating the legendary Cigar.  Finishing in the money in 21 of 24 races, he is now a popular American sire.

 JP's Gusto

JP's Gusto wins the $400,000 Red Legend

Daily Racing Form: 06/20/11 ELMONT, N.Y. - JP’s Gusto, the 6 3/4-length winner of the $400,000 Red Legend Stakes at Charles Town, will be pointed to the Grade 1 King’s Bishop at Saratoga on Aug. 27, trainer Mike Hushion said Monday. Hushion said it has yet to be determined whether JP's Gusto would make a start in between in something like the Amsterdam at the Spa on Aug. 1.

The Red Legend was the first start JP's Gusto made for Hushion and first he made at seven furlongs since he won the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity last September.

“Very rarely do I feel that way, but it looked like at the half-mile pole the race was over,’’ Hushion said.

JP's Gusto helped Hushion maintain an uncanny streak of success with horses sent to him by bloodstock agents John O’Hara and Steve Bajer, who work for both John Waken, owner of JP’s Gusto and the fillies Harissa and Nicole H; and Marc Ferrell, owner of Wind Caper, Tidal Dance, Fiddler’s Afleet, and Quality Council. Since 2009, Hushion has won 20 races with that group, including 11 stakes.

“They must have a real good eye,’’ Hushion said. “Out of a small sampling, they put a lot of stakes horses over here.’’
